Monks In Your Classroom

School Speaker's Bureau

Picture
Our monks are available to come and speak to your university, high school, middle school, Sunday school, or elementary classroom. These visits are especially helpful for comparative religion classes as well as classes on Buddhism and psychology. Our monks are able to share a living Buddhist tradition that reflects how people practice the teachings of the Buddha in an authentic way today. Subjects can include, but are not limited to
  • Life of the Buddha
  • Basic Buddhist teachings
  • The Four Nobel Truths and the Nobel Eightfold Path
  • Buddhist scriptures
  • Meditation
  • Mindfulness
  • Buddhist Ethics
  • Right Livelihood
  • History of Buddhism in Sri Lanka
  • Buddhist monastic life
  • Buddhist lay life
  • Overcoming anger and resentment
  • Overcoming greed and materialism

The monks can come to your classroom anywhere in the Winnipeg area. There is no charge for their teachings. Please contact us if you are interested.

You may be wondering...
  • "Are there meditation classes?"
  • "Is there really a Buddhist monastery in Winnipeg?"
  • "Can non-Buddhists benefit from your activities?"
  • "What do Buddhists believe?"
  • "What happens at a monastery?"
  • "Who are the monks? Who are the lay people?"
  • "What can I expect when I visit?"
