This is a series of four classes that will teach you the basics of Buddhist meditation. We will cover the purpose of meditation, posture, silent and loving-kindness meditation and more.
Everyone is welcome to join us for this meditation class. No experience is necessary. People from all backgrounds are welcome. Children are welcome to come with their parents.
Class 1: Purpose and benefits of meditation, Basics of posture (chair and floor); Loving-kindness meditation; overcoming sleepiness
Class 2: Major hindrances to meditation and solutions; breathing meditation
Class 3: Overcoming distracting thoughts; walking meditation
Class 4: Body-part meditation; posture review
There will be both guided and silent meditations. There is time during and after the class to ask questions. You may also like to join us for our chanting service immediately after the class. More info here.
