Support on the Path

Buddhist Pastoral Care

PictureMonks chanting for a patient in the hospital.
The Buddha designed a spiritual relationship of mutual support for his monastic and lay followers. There are many ways that monks provide for the spiritual life of lay people in addition to teaching at scheduled activities.
  • Meditation Advice. Learning meditation on your own but have some questions? You can talk to the monks before or after any activities.
  • Medical Visitations. Monks are available to visit patients in hospital or at home to provide spiritual encouragement in difficult times.
  • House Blessings. Many people appreciate deepening their committment to the Buddha's teachings as they go through worldly transitions such as moving into a new house.
  • Marriage Blessings. Monks don't provide wedding services, but they are able to provide counseling and blessings to couples.
  • Expectant Parents Blessing and Counseling: Taking on the responsibilities of parenthood is a major step in lay life and choosing to raise a child with a religious education is an important part of that step.
  • Spiritual Counseling: Monks are always available to provide spiritual guidance to people wishing to apply the Buddha's teachings to their daily lives.
All of these services are provided at no charge. If you are interested, please contact us.

You may be wondering...
  • "Are there meditation classes?"
  • "Is there really a Buddhist monastery in Winnipeg?"
  • "Can non-Buddhists benefit from your activities?"
  • "What do Buddhists believe?"
  • "What happens at a monastery?"
  • "Who are the monks? Who are the lay people?"
  • "What can I expect when I visit?"
